Quick Production Update: samples flying home tomorrow

We have 50 (ten of each) Wimoto samples flying home tomorrow via FedEx for approval.

Our contract manufacturer reports no assembly problems aside from the Texas Instruments TMP006 infrared temperature sensor. This comes in a tiny chip-scale BGA package, and apparently we’ll need to tweak our PCB and stencil a tiny bit to mount them more reliably (two out of ten failed and needed to be re-worked).

Another update and pictures when they arrive (hopefully Friday, but could be Monday).

EDIT: The TMP006 infrared “thermopile” is used in the Wimoto Thermo.

  1. Any chance of another update? How are they looking? Gardening season is in full swing and I’m more than a little bit anxious to get my hands on these!!

    1. Things are good. There were a couple of things we needed to fix (one resistor was too close to the PIR sensor on the Sentry, we needed to re-design the Grow circuit board due to a silly mistake) and some firmware and app fixes have gone in too.

Should be finally making a positive shipping update in the next few days! 🙂

I’m grateful for the reply. You’ve been excellent with responses from the very first approach last year, and your updates are great. This grow unit is going to be an amazing component to have in conjunction with drip irrigation in the crops. We’ll be able to fine-tune the planting timeframes (especially in a year like this where we are 3-4 week behind schedule), and irrigation schedules and lengths throughout the year by simply monitoring the data from each Grow unit. I wish you the best of luck in nailing down the last of the tweaks.

      2. Thank you, Shawn….your kind words help us keep going 🙂

I’m also behind on my personal planting after a harsh winter and terrible storms here in Southern Ontario!

We’d love to hear more about what you’re doing when you get your motes.
